Soothing Two-Tone Cement Tile Creates Kitchen Calm
Posted by William Buyok on
Using a soothing green and clean, simple cement tile pattern in this kitchen provides a calm, organized space to cook, clean, and entertain with friends. The two-tone palette creates an unexpected design in the Mission Rings pattern.
The tropical green color is the perfect choice for this kitchen located in Hawaii. The white in the tile really pops with the white of the cabinets, while the effect of wood tones reinforces the tropical, peaceful feel.
The homeowner was able to create a very different effect with the Mission Ring pattern on their kitchen's backsplash by using the same color in almost all of the mold segments. Not only can you substitute colors to create a unique effect; you can also alter a pattern by using the same color in an adjoining pattern (or mold) segments. The choice of color and pattern creates a calm environment.
Designing with Cement Tile
Designing with cement tile means taking a vision, idea or surrounding complementary area, and making it come to life. In this installation, the cement tile pattern is centered, and all cuts are near the edge of the room. Why? So that your eye naturally focuses on the main field pattern.
